I voted.

Yes, I voted. Here's to hoping Bush loses.

So my polling place (the YWCA) serves two student-heavy precincts, one on northside and one on southside. When I first got in line, there were about twenty people in each line. Now, this shouldn't be too long, but it appears that a lot of students who thought they registered on campus discovered that their names were not on the register. Like, a lot a lot. Probably 4 or 5 out of the twenty in line in front of me. They were all given provisional ballots to cast and recorded in the register. I heard one of the poll workers in the other precinct commenting that they'd already had 40 people vote with provisional ballots. And this is in Berkeley, where the election results are pretty predictable.

Electronic voting machines have been in use here for the past couple years. Honestly, they're more user-friendly than the alarming punch cards we used the first time I voted in the 2000 presidential election. Who knows whether my vote was actually counted (the lady cautioned me to make sure the card "clicks" when you put it in the machine), but at least casting it was a mostly pleasant experience.

Punch cards are bad, too, I think.

The worst was doing punch cards absentee. What a pain.
