MVHS Photo FAQ

Q1. How do I order a print of the photo?

A1. Display the photo you want, and click "buy this photo." Go through SmugMug's menus to order it. They're not too expensive.

IMPORTANT: Many of the photos are non-standard sizes (I crop them myself). Choose the NO CROP option if you order a photo, to make sure you get the whole image.

Q2. How do I download a photo so I can print it myself?

A2. Display the photo you want. Then point your mouse over the image. A slide-out menu will appear on the right-hand side of the image. Click "save photo" at the bottom of the slide-out.  Then choose to "Save to disk."

You'll know you have the original if the file size is somewhere around 1 to 1.5MB. (My cameras are old, and take 6 megapixel photos. That's all there is!)

After it's downloaded, you can print the photo using any photo application you have, including the Microsoft Photo/Fax viewer that comes with Windows.

Q3. Where are the photo galleries from past seasons?

A3. There are now four galleries: 2005-2006, 2006-2007, 2007-2008, and 2008-2009.

Q4. Why do some of the photos seem out of order?

A4. I shoot with two cameras with two different lenses. One is wide-angle and good for shots of the whole field or rows of students parading or rehearsing, the other I use to zoom in from far away. The photos are uploaded by day and time taken, but sometimes the difference in time is less than a minute, and the files are sorted only down to the closest minute.

Q5. Why are there multiple galleries for some events?

A5. Because sometimes there are so many photos I want to try not to make you wade through so many in one gallery.

Q6. Why do you take so many?

A6. There are more than 200 band members, and admit it, you want a photo of YOU [or your kid]. I take a lot in the hope that I'll catch everyone at least once. That, and I'm just obsessive.

Q7. So why isn't there one of me [my kid]?

A7. People on the ends of rows or outside or front edges of field formations are easier for me to shoot. But if you really want your photo taken, tell me what instrument you play and I'll try to find you. :-)
