Silk Painting: An Artistic Hobby for All

Shibori Painting

Shibori painting is an ancient Japanese textile technique from which tie-dyeing is derived. Joy-Lily has developed a quick, easy multi-color process for contemporary shibori using colorfast dyes.

The photos show the members of a "shibori party" as they paint their rolled, tied silks and unroll the silk. See the results at the bottom!

If you want to hold a shibori party in your home, find seven other participants and contact Joy-Lily

Shibori Q&A

Is shibori messy?

Not very, but you don't want to dress up for this one.

Is my home big enough?

Can you seat 6 people at your table? 8 or 9 in your living room? If so, you've got room!

What about kids?

Any child 10 or older who attends with an adult may sign up for these workshops.
